ABSTRACT CONTENT / DETAILS:

The core mission of ELIXIR is to build a stable and sustainable infrastructure for biological information across Europe. At the heart of this are the data resources, tools and services that ELIXIR offers to the life science community, providing a stable and sustainable access to biological data. ELIXIR aims to ensure that these resources are available long-term and that the life-cycles of these resources are managed such that they support the scientific needs of life sciences research.

The talk will summarize the work that has been done in the context of the ELIXIR Data Platform to identify key indicators for defining ELIXIR Core Data Resources and the promotion of excellence in resource development and operation. I will describe the process that has resulted in the publication of the initial list of Core Data Resources in July 2017, and explain how these resources fit into the wider data ecosystem to deliver data services, support ELIXIR’s sustainability strategy and science policy actions, capacity building, and life cycle management and technical actions.
